A range is not indecision — it is the honest shape of the answer. The same job in a two-bed flat in Wakefield and a four-bed Victorian terrace in Wandsworth is not the same job: more circuits, older wiring, harder access, higher labour rates. Where a guide gives you £400 to £1,000, the drivers of that spread are set out on the page so you can work out which end you are at.
The single most useful thing you can do with a quote is check what it excludes. Making good, plastering, decorating, scaffold and skip hire are routinely outside the electrical price, and that is where most disputes start.
